“Does my real dad ever think about me?”

What if Your blessings come through raindrops,

What if Your healing comes through tears,IMG_5473

What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near,

What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise.

Maybe you’ve heard the words above from the song, “Blessings” by Laura Story.

To see a friend post them on Facebook strikes a chord of sadness because I know how disappointment resides in their home like an unwanted guest.  In a moment of frankness, it’s tempting to say, “C’mon, God, give them a break!”

Shiloh children have felt the sting of suffering too.  How many times have words like, “Why me?” flowed from their young hearts?  “Does my real dad ever think about me?” “I wonder what my real mom is doing right now.” “Why can’t I shake memories of what happened to me when I was smaller?”

God never promised a life on Easy Street, but these kids would have taken a shanty at the end of a dusty lane if it meant their real mom and dad provided for them and protected them.  Life gave them raindrops, tears, and trials instead.

But you want the Shiloh children to know that in the sorrows of life God whispers, “never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”  Sometimes He removes the noise of life so we can hear Him.

The best blessing God can ever give us isn’t fame or fortune, it’s Himself.  The joy of Heaven won’t be pearly gates, mansions, streets of gold, or a seat overlooking a crystal sea. The joy of Heaven will be the presence of God – our Creator and our Redeemer!

God uses your support to help abused and neglected children at Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch.  With your prayers and financial support He shares with them healing, mercies and Himself.

Because of friends like you, raindrops can become blessings for hurting children.
